I'm Not Normal

I don't cake on a ton of makeup in the morning,
I just apply some mascara if I have the time.
Am I too boyish?

I don't listen to popular rap music,
I listen to Sleeping with Sirens, Blood on the Dance Floor, and Three Days Grace, yet One Direction as well.
Does that mean I have bad taste in music?

I don't do sports after school,
I participate in things like the school play and Battle of the Books.
Does that make me a reject?

I don't put effort into styling my hair,
I choose styles that are easiest to care for.
So that means you have to judge me?

I don't act dumb or keep quiet in class,
I speak my mind and get straight A's.
Is that why you only talk to me when you need homework help?

I don't throw myself at every boy I have a crush on,
I savor our rare conversations and try to gradually befriend them.
Am I a loser that'll never get a boyfriend?

I don't watch Teen Mom or MTV,
I watch anime and channels like Disney Channel.
Does that make me too childish?

I don't spend a lot of time planning my outfit on weekends,
I throw on clothes I wouldn't wear to school.
Why should that matter?

I don't give up on people I haven't hung out with since elementary school,
I try to adapt to their changes and rebuild our friendship.
Does that make me desperate for friends?

I don't come from a fancy neighborhood,
I come from the farm I lived on for 11 years.
Am I a country bumpkin, then?

Am I not "normal"?
